THE BREAKAWAY

From a goalie’s perspective, there are 2 types of breakaways.

1. Straight On with the shooter coming up the centre of the ice &

2. From the side, with the player coming down the wing.

- As a goalie, you should start high out of the net, at least three feet beyond the crease.

- Maintain a slow, smooth backward motion.

- Do not move too far back into the net

- Stay on feet for as long as possible.

- Play the puck at all times, not the shooter...
